The other day Mike came home from work and told me we had the FRG meeting about the deployment that night. So we go up there and sit through their shpeel about everything. Then they run down the time line. Set some pretty firm dates and then tell everyone to go into the "Big White Tent" to check out all the booths for predeployment and deployment information. So we are ready. Blah blah blah.
So two hours later we had a ton of crap to bring home and the only helpful bit of info I left there with was the week Mike leaves. So it's for real, Mike is heading back to Iraq. Not that that is surprising in anyway. It's just a bit of a bummer to realize how soon it's gonna be here.
But we are going to AZ and TX for 2 weeks before he takes off. So that will be good.
12 months, only 12 months.... That is cake, we got this. Or at least that is what I keep telling my self. =)

I have a hard time with the "getting ready" part. It seems like it takes forever to out-process. In the back of my mind, I keep thinking - "Gosh, all the wasted time...the sooner you go, the sooner you get back!" I know it's twisted, but I just hate waiting for him to leave (not that I ever want him to leave, but if he has to...make it quick!). I hate being in limbo!
That's a major bummer! Brian's heading "over there" now. He's stationed in Kuwait though...he did his tour in Iraq several years ago. He's with the National Guard. Good luck!!!!
Sorry to hear that Mike is headed over there, but if it helps...we can de deployment buddies. Scott is headed over real soon as well.
